SEND

At Lilyrose International School, we believe that every child deserves the best possible start in life and as such should be given every support that will enable them to fulfil their potential irrespective of their ability; however, we are also conscious that sometimes, children need additional support to ensure that they get the best of the provisions available to them.  To this end we have created a truly inclusive provision, which will allow all children regardless of their specific needs make the best possible progress  and reach their maximum potential while at our school.  Our general ambience including the lighting have been carefully chosen to ensure that the children are comfortable in that environment.

In making provision for children and young persons with SEN, the SEND code of Practice identifies four principal areas of SEN, and some children may have needs that cut across more than one of these listed below:

  • Communicating and Interacting 
  • Cognition and Learning 
  • Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEHM) 
  • Sensory and/or Physical Needs 

Our practices are driven by our SEND policies and procedures which is entrenched in the SEND Code of Practice.  We follow the graduated approach using the assess, plan, do and review cycle.  We work closely with the educational psychologists, Speech and Language therapists, Health Visitors, Children Psychologists, and any other professionals that may be required to support a child.

All children with SEND have a Passport, Individual Learning Plan (ILP), a Medical Passport (if required). The ILPs are based on targets agreed with the child’s specialists or the appropriate professionals and these are reviewed periodically to ensure all reasonable outcomes are met.

In our practice have staff members trained to use PECS, Intensive Interaction and Makaton if required.  We also use objects of reference and visual aids, such as visual timetables, prompts and now and next artefacts.  We attend when needed, any training advised by professional to meet children’s individual needs, these may include medical training.

We work closely to support the family on their journey and can provide social stories for children when needed.
